The method focuses on the development of internal muscles to maintain body balance and give stability and firmness to the spine, making it widely used as therapy in rehabilitation and, for example, to prevent and cure back pain.
The six essential principles of this method are control, concentration, fluency, precision, breathing and centre. In this sense, our Pilates workouts focus on a specific body area called the “centre of strength”. This area would be made up of the abdominal muscles, the base of the back and the buttocks, and the objective is to exercise the rest of the body through strengthening such centre.
